Stupid! Parents Let Facebook Vote Decide Their Baby's Name
You use Facebook to talk to friends, ask a classmate about a homework assignment, post photos snapped over the weekend, and wish someone a happy birthday. But a Toronto couple used the social networking site to name their newborn baby. For reals.
Rommy and Robert Alpinelli decided to use a poll to name their daughter. Twenty-thousand people voted and in the end, Melania came out on top with 2,862 votes. "At first I was a little apprehensive," the new mom said. "What if it was a name I didn't like? But then there were rules in place, like no vulgar names, and things like that."
Voting ended at 3PM last Tuesday when the baby was born. Aria was a close second -- just nine votes behind Melania -- but the couple's pleased with their winning moniker.
"I love it," Rommy said about her baby's name. "There's something different about it. It's very pretty. It's feminine, but strong for when she gets older."%Poll-56816%
