'Teen Mom' Star Amber Portwood in Jail on Felony Charges
On Monday, 'Teen Mom' star Amber Portwood turned herself in to Indiana police after a warrant was issued for her arrest. According to PopEater, Amber was charged with two felony counts of domestic battery, one felony count of neglect of a dependent, as well as a misdemeanor charge of domestic battery.
Amber allegedly attacked Gary Shirley, her daughter Leah's father, on three separate occasions between 2009 and 2010, and as we previously reported, some incidents were caught on film during taping for the MTV reality show.
Amber has been placed on a 24-hour hold with bail set at $5,000. If convicted, the 20-year-old faces three years behind bars and up to $10,000 in fines.
"Amber is scared. Gary is here with us. He's upset, too," Amber's brother, Shawn, told E!Online.com. "It's just been awful because we were supposed to have Christmas all together with my mom today and [the cops] picked her up an hour before."
Last month, we asked JSYK readers if they think Amber should go to jail for her actions. Nearly 62 percent of you said yes, while about 33 percent of readers said no. What do you think of the situation now? Should an example be made of Amber or are these charges way too harsh? Let us know what you think in the comments. %Poll-57939%
