If you've been watching new episodes of 'Pretty Little Liars', you know that Emily recently came out to her friends and her family and while her parents are struggling with the news, her friends are totally cool with it and supportive of Emily's relationship with Maya.
Now the entire cast is lending their support to teens in a new 'It Gets Better' PSA for the Trevor Project. Lucy Hale, Troian Bellisario, Ashley Benson and Shay Mitchell appear in the video to reassure troubled teens that there is a light at the end of the tunnel.
"When my character, Emily, came out on 'Pretty Little Liars,' she was lucky to have friends who accepted and loved her unconditionally," Shay says. "Not everyone has a supportive community around them, but, like Emily, you may have more than you think."
"It gets better is not just a phrase or a website; it's a fact," Troian adds. "One day you will be celebrated for the special and unique qualities that make you you."
The show's creator, Marlene King, and producer, Oliver Goldsmith, also appear in the clip to share their personal stories. As a teen, Marlene didn't think a "normal" life was possible, but now she has a beautiful family with her partner of 17 years. Oliver had a hard time growing up, too, but found support from adults who celebrated him for exactly who he was.
