Second Teen Sentenced For Drunkenly Killing Baby Alpaca
Back in October we told you about 18-year-old Nicholas Reynolds, an Ohio teen who was sentenced to 20 months in jail for killing a baby alpaca after a night of drinking. Nick wasn't alone in the act -- 18-year-old Marcus Miller and 22-year-old Stacie Miller also played a role in trespassing on the farm and stealing the 3-month-old alpaca named Masterpiece.
Sixty-nine percent of JSYK readers say Nick's sentence should have been longer.
One commented, "What a jerk. I think he should have way more community service to do, more money to pay, and he should have to go to jail longer. It was his fault he was drinking and why would he think killing the animal would help it?"
Another said, "DUMMY! why on earth would you kill an innocent baby alpaca?!? They cant even defend themselves which is sad... what a jerk.. he should be in jail MUCH longer!"
Although readers called for Nick to have a longer sentence, Marcus was recently sentenced to only eight months in prison. Additionally he'll spend up to six months in a community corrections center.
Nick and Marcus must also spend 100 hours of community service at an animal shelter in addition to paying restitution to Masterpiece's owner. Do you think it's fair that Marcus received a lesser sentence than Nick?
