The After Party may not be a household name at the moment, but these Kansas-based rockers won't settle for anything less. With their self-titled EP due out this spring, the four-piece have released a brand-new single called, 'Secret Lover,' which the band is now offering to JSYK readers for free.

Last year, The After Party toured with the likes of Allstar Weekend and Runner Runner, but also hit the studio to record their new tunes. The group worked with producers Zack Odom and Kenneth Mount, the guys behind bands like All Time Low, Mayday Parade and Cartel.
'Secret Lover' is an upbeat pop song, but don't be fooled by its infectious chorus. The track actually deals with a pretty serious issue: infidelity.

"The inspiration behind 'Secret Lover' is cheaters," lead singer Kenny Greely tells JSYK. "All four of us have been affected by cheating in one way or another, whether it was in past relationships or in our families, and it was something we felt compelled to write about. This song is basically about getting even."

Those who are already fans of the The After Party are familiar with their first EP, 'All the Wrong Places,' which Kenny says dealt with "lighter subjects," but the songs on their new release show how the band has grown.

"Over the past year, we have matured as writers and as a band, and I think that is apparent in the songs on our new EP," he continues. "Of course, we still have lighthearted songs about dancing and having fun, but the new EP is centered around more serious matters like relationships and breakups."
