Buh-bye, creepy mannequins. Old Navy has launched a brand-new music-themed campaign, and the first commercial in the series features someone who looks a lot like Kim Kardashian. But while the singer bears a striking resemblence to the reality show star, there's a lot more to Old Navy's 'Super C.U.T.E.' spot than just a Kardashian vibe.
Without looking too deeply into it, a casual watcher would totally think Kim was rocking budget-friendly duds for the retailer, especially when she's using the phrase "super cute." But on second glance, it's more like the stars of the commercial are a hybrid of Kim and the Black Eyed Peas.
So what's the deal with the new campaign? Is Old Navy trying to trick fans into thinking Kim is starring in their new ad? Maybe, but the chain actually has a lot more in store for its customers. According to AdAge, Old Navy has implemented this music video commercial series with the help of music house Honor Roll and Grammy-winning director Joseph Kahn to produce original tracks from their band creations.
While the 'Super C-U-T-E' song, performed by the made-up group Audio Threadz, is total pop, other tracks featured in the campaign will range from country to hip-hop. But perhaps the most interesting thing about the spots is their integration with the app Shazam. Those who try to tag any of the songs in the ad series will not only be able to get info on the band, but they'll also be able to watch the video, download the song and find out about on the looks seen in the commercial.
