Miley Cyrus Covers Nirvana's 'Smells Like Teen Spirit'
Miley Cyrus kicked off her Gypsy Heart tour in Ecuador on Friday, and during her concert, the 18-year-old broke out into a full cover of Nirvana's 'Smells Like Teen Spirit.'
"For this tour, I want to be able to do the music that inspired me and made me want to be on this stage tonight," she said on stage.
"It's hard being on the road because you miss your family back home, and this song is something I always sing with my little brother who can't be with me on tour, so this song is also for him," she added before launching into the cover.
A video of the performance shows the 18-year-old rocking out in front of thousands, thrashing around on stage while singing Kurt Cobain's famed lyrics. 'Smells Like Teen Spirit' was the lead single from the grunge rock band's sophomore album, 'Nevermind,' which came out in 1991. It became the Seattle group's first big hit and pushed the trio into the spotlight.
