Charice: My Mom Inspires Me Every Day
Charice found fame through hard work and determination, but she couldn't have done it without the support of one particular person. In a recent interview with 'Glee' star, she told JSYK that her biggest inspiration in life is her mother.
"My mom inspired me to be a singer because she encouraged me every time someone said something negative about how I looked, or how I sang," she said. "At one point I thought I should just go to school and study, but my mom told me to never give up."
In the beginning, Charice wasn't interested in singing. In fact she was all about dancing. However, when her mom discovered her talent, she encouraged her to perfect her craft.
"When I was younger, I really wanted to be a dancer, because I was too shy to sing in front of others," Charice revealed. "I never thought I could sing, because in my mind, I wanted to be a dancer like Michael Jackson. I used to join a lot of dance competitions, but would never sing. Then one day, when I was by myself at home, I turned on our karaoke machine and started to sing. The first song I learned was "My Heart Will Go On" by Celine Dion and it felt really good when I sang the song. From then on, my mom was determined to teach me how to sing."
Nowadays, the international sensation is still looking up to the woman who's had her back all along. "My mom continues to inspire me every day," the 18-year-old added. "She never gave up on me and continues to support me in whatever I do."
In addition to her role as Sunshine Corazon on 'Glee,' Charice just released a brand-new single called 'One Day,' which was co-written by Nick Jonas.
