'American Idol' Winner Scotty McCreery Puts His Education First
Scotty McCreery became the winner of the tenth season of 'American Idol' last night, but while he couldn't be more excited, he's still putting his education first.
Despite the whirlwind of excitement that comes with becoming a recording artist, the North Carolina still has some unfinished business. "I'm still in school!" he said. "I've got a test to take on Friday for English. I'm still 17. Still a high school student."
Scotty faced off against fellow finalist Lauren Alaina, who put up a good fight. However, America cast more votes for the southern teen. On Wednesday's finale, Scotty made an emotional and teary-eyed performance of his new single, 'I Love You This Big,' for the crowd after hearing the results.
"[It] feels absolutely amazing," he explained. "I mean, I'm on top of the world right now. It's just a moment I'll never forget."
As for his future plans, Scotty will hit the road this summer, and is excited to get into the studio. "I'm looking forward to getting out there on tour with 'American Idol Live' tour, and I'm really looking forward to getting my album out there, recording some songs, and getting my music out to the fans quick as possible."
