Sean Kingston in Stable Condition After Jet Ski Accident
Sean Kingston is in stable condition at Jackson Ryder Trauma Center in Miami, Fla. after crashing his jet ski into Palm Island Bridge on Sunday evening.
"Sean Kingston is now stabilized and has moved from the trauma unit to ICU," the rapper's publicist said in a statement. "Sean's family thanks everyone for their prayers and support during this time."
According to People, a passerby attended to the 21-year-old and his friend before help arrived. Jorge Pino, a spokesman for the Florida Fish and Wildlife Commission, the lead investigative agency of the accident, said:
"Sean was heading west from the MacArthur Causeway and Miami Beach Islands when his personal watercraft collided with the bridge, and he and his female passenger ended up in the water. A good Samaritan tended to the two of them until Miami Beach Fire Rescue arrived and saw there were injuries."
The condition of the female passenger was unknown at press time. Authorities are still investigating the cause of the accident, but alcohol was reportedly not a factor in the crash.
"Nine times out of 10, recklessness on the water involving personal watercraft contributes to accidents," Pino added. "That is not necessarily the cause of this one, but we spend a lot of time patrolling the areas looking for violations with jet skis and motor boats."
On Monday, Rihanna, Nicki Minaj and 'Eenie Meenie' collaborator Justin Bieber sent messages of support to Sean via Twitter. "Got my friend @seankingston in my prayers tonight," Justin tweeted. "A true friend and big bro. Please keep him in your prayers as well."
