Never Shout Never Aims to Raise $1 Million for Joplin Tornado Relief
Never Shout Never frontman Christofer Drew is aiming to raise $1 million to help the tornado victims in his hometown, Joplin, Mo. Although neither he nor his family were harmed in the wake of the disaster, it deeply affected the 20-year-old singer-songwriter, and he is determined to do something about it.
"Joplin is my home. It is the place where I find comfort and rest," Christofer said. "The tornado that hit our community was not only devastating to the city's prosperity, but also the lives of the victims."
To help raise money for his hometown, the pop rocker has teamed up with United Way to help raise money for immediate and long-term relief efforts. Fans can text "JOMO" to 50555 to donate $10 to the cause.
"My greatest hope is that after the cameras leave, we will not be forgotten," he adds. "I love this city and plan to stand by its side until it is completely restored and livable. We are all encouraged by the help we've received. Thank you everyone."
Next week, Never Shout Never will debut a new track for download, the proceeds of which will be donated toward the relief efforts. Christofer also created a homemade video of the disaster's aftermath, which features the never-before-heard song 'Time Travel.'
