Nikki Yanofsky is one busy girl. Not only has she been collaborating with some of today's biggest songwriters and producers (and squeezing in an impromptu cover of 'Forget You'), but she's also been on the road promoting her latest album, 'Nikki.'
Audiences have been really receptive toward the 17-year-old's unique jazz-pop sound, and the Canadian singer has been having a blast performing live. "Every place that we've gone to has been more than appreciative, and it's just really great experiences the whole way through," she tells us in our exclusive behind-the-scenes video.
Nikki also talks about warming up her vocal chords before each show (you even get to see her do it!), and why it's such an important practice for her. "Not everybody warms up, but I've found that it really does help to preserve my voice and -- knock on wood -- I never lose it," she explains.
Nikki has spent the last few months working with Diane Warren, Rod Temperton, Eg White, James Bryan, Jesse Harris, Danielle Brisebois, Chantal Kreviazuk and many others, writing for her third, as-yet-untitled album.
The charismatic singer will hit the studio later this summer to begin the recording process with two-time Grammy nominated producer Greg Wells, who has worked with the likes of Adele, Mika and OneRepublic.
Nikki is currently hitting the summer festival circuit, beginning with an appearance at the San Francisco Jazz Festival on June 18. To see what goes on backstage, watch our sweet behind-the-scenes video below, and check out more upcoming tour dates at NikkiYanofsky.com.
