The show has been causing a lot of buzz, especially for its star Zooey Deschanel who shines as the "adorkable" Jess. We caught up with Zooey last week at the Paley Center to find out why everyone is talking about this show.

"I think the writing is really amazing and the characters are just not characters I've seen on television," Zooey told us. "I remember sitcoms when I was a kid. A lot of them had a good balance of comedy but always had more grounded moments, more dramatic moments woven in. This show has that. It has a good balance."

And is there any Zooey in Jess? Yup! "She's like a version of myself," Zooey said.

Let us know what you thought about "The New Girl"!
