For her prank, Tiffany pretends to be struggling to compose a song for a new video game device. She decides to enlist the help of her #1 fan, 12-year-old Darby, to collaborate on the lyrics and use silly props to inspire the creative process. However, Darby's songwriting skills impress the producer and she is asked to write the entire song solo.
The episode premieres at 8pm EST on Sunday, October 16 and we had the chance to chat with Tiffany all about the episode, working with Justin Bieber and her upcoming wedding!
Are you a prankster?
Tiffany: Not really. I just work so much I don't really have the energy to prank. I mean we play pranks when we have the new characters come on to "So Random!" There's like a doll that we made...Allisyn made it and we pranked Shane and put it in his dressing room and it scared the crap out of him when he opened the door. So, we do little stuff like that, but "PrankStars" is a whole new new level.
It was really cool because I got to interact with my biggest fan Darby and she's 12. I got to prank her and it was just really fun to watch. It's really interactive. She and I wrote a song together and it's called "Stick It to Me." We write a song about a stick. It's literally a stick.
Then Mitchel [Musso]...there's a little microphone that he talks into that goes to a speaker inside my ear. He's telling me what to say to her and I'm trying to talk without pretending like I'm listening to something in my ear. It was crazy but really fun.
Was there ever a moment when you thought you might break or ruin the prank?
Tiffany: Yeah. I repeated myself a lot because I kept saying it while Mitchel was saying it and then saying it again. So, I kept doing that and going 'she's going to think something's weird here.' But she went along with it really well and I don't think she knew anything. I think she really got pranked.
So her reaction must have been priceless.
Tiffany: Oh it's totally priceless! It's really cool to watch her be like "you got me, oh my goodness!"
Any hints on what's coming up on "So Random!"? I know there are some holiday themed episodes.
Tiffany: Well, I would "Never Say Never" to a certain someone being on our Holiday episode.
That's right! Justin Bieber is the musical guest for the Christmas episode right?
Tiffany: He's there and holiday episodes are always really fun because you get to have Christmas at a time of the year when it's not Christmas. It was great. I don't even remember what sketches we did, honestly, because we did 170 sketches during our whole season and we just wrapped a few weeks ago. They're funny, though.
What was it like working with the Biebs?
Tiffany: It's great. I've met him before and he's a really sweet kid. He's super talented. We film in front of a live audience so our fans freaked out. He's just a really nice guy. He made sure to say goodbye to each and every one of us before he left. It was an honor to have him there.
You're calling from Nashville, so are you working on some new music right now?
Tiffany: I am in Nashville this week writing and recording and hopefully I'll be able to put an album out in the next year or so. That would be amazing. Hopefully my fans would come to concerts. I'm working on that right now and I still have my jewelry line with Beso Beso and that's going really well. And I'm working on a cookbook as well...just got a few things in the fire trying to get going.
A few? Do you ever find time to relax?
Tiffany: I don't sleep much, but that's ok. I'll sleep later.
Can you give us any hints on who you're working with music wise?
Tiffany: I'm writing with a lot of really cool writers. [On Thursday] I wrote with Brett James. He wrote "Jesus Take the Wheel" for Carrie Underwood and a bunch of other hits. I wrote with Jeff Stevens who wrote "Carrying Your Love With Me" by George Strait. It's one of the [most] famous country songs ever. Victoria Shaw, she's amazing. I actually wrote a song with Victoria and Caitlin Evanson who is in Taylor Swift's band. Just keeping busy.
Everybody in Nashville has written a hit so I can't list them all but they're all really really great. The cool thing is most of them have kids so it kind of helps me out a little bit because I come and I write with them and their kids come by and I get to take pictures. I get to kill two birds with one stone. It's nice.
Tiffany: Yes! I was in London. I shot a piece for the coronation of Rapunzel. She is now an official princess in the Disney family. So I got to shoot that and host that as part of my Princess segments that I've been doing for the channel. Then I just hopped over to Paris for 4 days. Vacationed in Paris and got to see the Eiffel Tower and Notre Dame. It was just so beautiful. I mean, I was really happy to get back home because I missed my own bed and my house and my dogs, but it was really really fun and I'd never been before.
Moving on to the wedding. Are you excited for it?
Tiffany: November 12 it happens. It's a month away and I'm really excited. It's going to hopefully be beautiful. Demi [Lovato] is a bridesmaid of mine and it's really exciting. I have a bunch of friends that are coming - Francia Raisa from "The Secret Life of the American Teenager"...I'm just excited all my friends are texting me like "girl your wedding is a month away! We're so excited, we got our tickets, hotel room..." It's crazy.
Has it hit you yet that it's so soon?
Tiffany: It hit me yesterday. I started to freak out a little bit. It was like "Oh my gosh, I'm actually getting married in a month." It's been such a fairytale up until this point and now it's like wait, I'm actually getting married.
Congratulations on the wedding! Last question...any message for your fans?
Tiffany: Don't forget to tune into Cambio and thank you so much for supporting us. We know it's been a journey and we all really miss Demi and we want to make sure everyone knows it wasn't our choice, obviously, to not have her on the show. It's just how the tables turned and we're rolling with it and we appreciate our fans sticking with us.
