Christina Grimmie rocked a red dress on the red carpet of the 2011 American Music Awards last night and opened the live online red carpet preshow with a rocking performance of her original song, "Not Fragile," accompanied by Selena Gomez' band, The Scene.
The 17-year-old singer, who also shared the red carpet preshow stage with Taio Cruz for a performance of his hit song, "Higher," was presented with a brand new American Music Award, New Media Honoree Female. Fellow YouTube stars DeStorm and Karmin also won New Media awards in the Male and Group categories.
"I kept questioning my parents, do you think this is a real award?" she said. "Did I really win an award? And I did and I'm so thankful and blessed that I won the award."
Last week, Christina stopped by the Cambio studio and dished to us about picking out the perfect dress and who she was most excited to see at the event - her musical idol and biggest inspiration, Christina Aguilera.
"If I don't see her, just being in the same building as her will be cool,"Christina said.
The soulful young singer was tweeting and posting to Facebook during the event. "AGUILERAS ON NEXT. HOLY. BROWN. BLACK N BLUE COW. Literally almost in tears. IM GONNA ball my eyes out," Christina updated her over 800K Facebook fans.
After the show was over, she posted this picture with the caption, "I cried so hard when Christina Aguilera came out at the AMAs, I got back to the hotel room to find out I was walkin around with my makeup like this O_O Thanks, Aguilera."
