Following a group performance by Marcus, Josh Krajcik, Melanie Amaro and Chris Rene, it was time for the judges comments. Simon Cowell called Josh "the one to beat," and praised Marcus for his demeanor while being up for elimination three weeks in a row.
"What I like about Marcus is, three weeks in the bottom but he hasn't once sulked or complained," the judge said. "He comes back and it's like he's won the show every time."
However, in the end, the Maryland native came up short. The results were announced, giving Josh the green light to go on to the final week. Still, Marcus was all smiles, saying, "Just trust me, this is not the last time you will see Marcus Canty."
Next week, the final three contestants will battle it out for the $5 million recording contract. The following night will mark the season finale of the show, and one very special guest will be on hand to celebrate: Justin Bieber. According to The Hollywood Reporter, The Biebs has pre-taped a performance with eliminated contestant Drew Ryniewicz, which also features the legendary Stevie Wonder.
Tune in on Wednesday, December 21 at 8PM ET on FOX to watch Josh, Melanie and Chris sing for the grand prize.
