Last night we were lucky enough to be invited to the PaleyFest "Vampire Diaries" panel. The big players in the cast were there, including Nina Dobrev, Ian Somerhalder, Paul Wesley, Matt Davis, Kat Graham, and Candice Accola. The show is now in the midst of its third season, and the story lines have become so intricate, we had to talk to the cast about how they keep it all straight. Paul and Matt both admitted they have to read scripts multiple times to really get what is going on that episode. Before they all left our cameras, they all gave us story lines they would hope would happen for their characters. Check out the video above to see how wild all their answers are.
After we chatted with all the cast, we went inside to watch the some of the panel. Everyone in the cast was in great spirits, and we were really surprised at what jokesters all the guys were. Apparently Matt Davis has taken himself to Twitter under the name @ErnestoRiley in order to write and share his own personal requests for story lines on the show. But Executive Producer Julie Plec assured us that none of his ideas would be used. Apparently this Twitter is a little scandalous - we urge you to go check it out for yourself! If anything you will get a laugh out of it.
Paul talked about how much he loved playing the dark side of Stefan. He found it to be a refreshing challenge for the character. Paul even asked Julie on stage if they could make Stefan bad a couple more episodes.
Ian and Nina sat next to each other, and while they never blatantly say they are together, there were many little instances where you could see the chemistry between the two. After being asked about how the character Rebecca will be torturing Damon in a couple episodes to come, Ian was quick to joke, "Just like every woman in my life," after which he would turn to Nina and wink. But they also had their cute moments, such as Ian giving Nina his jacket because she was cold.
The cast actually took over the panel and begin asking each other questions, including asking if Julie ever takes fans opinions into account when they are writing episodes. Julie admits that herself and the writers all pay very close attention to what the fans are upset or happy about. But at the end of the day, they have to remember the core theme and core of the characters and stay true to what they have in store for the show. But all of them are so grateful for how dedicated their fan base is.
They left us with a promise that Elena's character will be making a choice within the love triangle that is the Salvatore brothers at the end of this season. You can watch "Vampire Diaries" on CW network at 8pm on Thursday nights.
