When casting began on 'The Hunger Games,' it took a while to find the perfect Primrose Everdeen, but the part ultimately went to New Mexico native Willow Shields, who instantly impressed director Gary Ross.

"I taped an audition from my house in New Mexico and sent it in to LA," the now 11-year-old tells Cambio exclusively of how she was cast. "I got a callback, and I flew into LA and met with Gary. When I was in the room, right after I finished my audition, he was just like, 'Okay you got the part, yeah.'"

The self-proclaimed "huge fan" of the Suzanne Collins series said she was "just speechless" after hearing the good news. The opportunity gave her the chance to act as the younger sister of Katniss Everdeen, played by Oscar nominee Jennifer Lawrence.

At times, Willow was nervous on set, especially when she had to cry on demand, but Jennifer really played the role of the big sister, reassuring her along the way. "It is hard to cry on cue," Willow explains. "But then if you're really in the character, then it's really easy."

The Albuquerque-born actress also dishes about her first day on set and working alongside such a talented cast. "I never believed that I would be in such an amazing movie," she adds.
