Madonna has no idea who One Direction are. Can you imagine? In an interview airing April 20 on ITV1's Daybreak, Madonna was asked about One Direction.

She said, "That's a pop group, right? I haven't seen them yet, no, sorry. Slap my hand."

It's not like everyone should know who One Direction are, but you would think Madge might want to have a better idea of who's hot in music these days.

After all, she could conceivably collaborate with a boy band and fetch herself a whole new audience.

Instead, Madonna seems to have her sights set on singing sensation Adele, noting, "I would love to meet her, I think she's brilliant, I love her."

She added that she had wanted Adele to be part of the Super Bowl performance this year, but "I think she was having her throat problem or throat operation or something."

As for Madonna becoming a TV talent show judge, like fellow stars Jennifer Lopez and (possibly) Britney Spears, she noted, "I haven't really thought about it to tell you truth and I've never actually seen any of those shows - I don't watch television."

She added, "And the contests, well everybody's a bit contest obsessed. I don't actually like the idea of being a judge. It's so subjective - like what's good and what isn't?"

Check out One Direction singing 'The Fresh Prince of Bel Air' theme song - that's some 1D goodness right there:
