In a new Cosmopolitan interview, Demi shares some of the pieces of knowledge she's learned during her rough year, after suffering a breakdown in October 2010 and going to rehab for three months.

Demi's star is on the rise again--she's just landed a judging job on The X Factor, has a hit album and upcoming tour, plus she's working every day on herself after struggling with an eating disorder, substance abuse, depression and cutting.

Demi explains her day-to-day recovery, telling the mag: "It's a daily thing; you don't get time off from it. And if I feel like myself slipping back into old patterns, I have to ask others for help, which is hard for me to learn, because I really like doing everything on my own."

Where does Demi see herself in the future? "I want to be married with kids in 10 years," she tells Cosmopolitan, and explains the only thing she's not looking for in a guy--someone "who is controlling."

Demi explains that she's open to dating, noting: "I don't have many deal breakers. I've done so much in my life, it doesn't feel right to judge other people."

She's quick to add, "Oh, I know one quality I won't tolerate. I would never be with a guy who is controlling."

One thing's for sure about Demi... she's always keeping it real!
