Wow! It seems like this came out of nowhere, but one of Hollywood's golden couples, Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes, have called it quits after five years of marriage and one very-frequently-photographed child together.
People broke the news of the split. TMZ adds that Katie wants sole custody of Suri. Katie's attorney released a statement saying, "This is a personal and private matter for Katie and her family...Katie's primary concern remains, as it always has been, her daughter's best interest."
As of right now, Katie and Suri are in New York City while Tom is in Iceland taping a new movie, Oblivion. Perhaps life just got too busy and distance was a factor?
Tom and Katie got married five years ago during a very lavish ceremony in an Italian castle. Their daughter Suri is six years old.
And who doesn't remember when Tom jumped on Oprah's couch after proclaiming his love for Katie? It's sad to see this love fizzle. We wish them both the best!
