Teen Olympian Missy Franklin Gets Her First Gold Medal--and a Surprise from Justin Bieber!!

The 17-year-old made Team USA proud in the 100 meter backstroke! We told you last week that Missy "the Missile" Franklin was an athlete you'd be hearing a lot more about once the Olympic games in London kicked off.

Well, last night was nothing short of spectacular for the 17-year-old.

First she qualified for the women's 200 meter freestyle. She took a quick break and and not fifteen minutes later, swam her heart out in the 100 meter backstroke finals.

The result?

Her very first GOLD medal!

This is just the beginning for Missy--she still has FIVE more events to go during these games and we have no doubt there's more medals in her future.

But she has a little something to keep her motivated . . .

Missy is a big Justin Bieber fan and we have a feeling that this Tweet last night felt almost as good as hanging that gold medal around her neck!
