Six songs that made our ears very happy this year are about to compete for Record of the Year at the 55th Annual Grammy Awards. We've always been huge fans of Taylor Swift and Kelly Clarkson, but Gotye had the song that we couldn't get out of our heads for months! Well, before Taylor wrote that other song we couldn't get out of our heads....
It's not the first rodeo for The Black Keys and Kelly Clarkson, but this is the first time either has been nominated for Record of the Year. Could the "Lonely Boy" band, The Black Keys, have a lock on the top prize? Or is Kelly's "Stronger" strong enough to knock Gotye's hypnotic "Somebody That I Used to Know" feat. Kimbra out of the Recording Academy's heads?
Fun's big hit (feat. Janelle Monae), "We Are Young," was well, fun. And Frank Ocean, we haven't forgotten your angelic voice or your impressive performance at the MTV VMA Awards last year. We're always "Thinkin Bout You."
But Taylor's "We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together" set a new record for biggest digital sales week ever for a song by a woman, and we know it hit a record for the song that made the most people wonder who inspired it!
It's going to be a tight race. Who's your pick for Record of the Year?
