After being arrested late Thursday night for disorderly conduct, Reese Witherspoon has issued a statement saying she is "deeply embarrassed" about the way she acted. If you were shocked by Reese Witherspoon's recent behavior, which ultimately led to her arrest, you weren't alone.

The actress feels awful about the situation and has issued an apology.

In a statement released on Sunday, the actress said:

"Out of respect for the ongoing legal situation, I cannot comment on everything that is being reported right now. But I do want to say I clearly had one drink too many and I am deeply embarrassed about the things I said. It was definitely a scary situation and I was frightened for my husband, but that was no excuse. I was disrespectful to the officer who was just doing his job. I have nothing but respect for the police and I am very sorry for my behavior."

Now that sounds more like the Reese we know and love!

Reese and her husband Jim Toth were arrested Thursday after Jim was pulled over on suspicion of driving under the influence and Reese's behavior during his arrest got so out-of-hand, she was arrested for disorderly conduct.

The two were released on bail shortly after being booked.

Do you think the arrest will ruin Reese's reputation?
