Natalie Dreyfuss Talks 'Secret Life': "There Are Some Twists This Season"
"This season is kind of interesting because it's the last season and everything is wrapping up," the 25-year-old actress told us. "This is where you get to see [my character] try to be a normal girl. You get to see her try to go to school and make friends and be a normal kid without slipping into those old patterns."
"By the end of the season, you get to see what happens when dark stuff comes knocking at the door," Natalie continued. "There's some twists and turns. I can't really say [what it is] but when I read the scripts, I was like, awesome."
Natalie, who quipped with a laugh that she doesn't know what it's like to be a prostitute in real life, said she "pulls from different aspects of [herself]" when she has to play a character that's very different from her.
"When I come into a character and I'm handed something that's so different from myself, mostly I just kind of connect to the things that I connect to" Natalie said. "I've been through dark times, so I just pull from different aspects of myself, because I don't know what it's like to be a prostitute. I have no idea. Luckily, I didn't go that route."
Although the end of the show's sixth season will mark the end of the show as a whole, Natalie said she thinks fans will be satisfied with the way it all turns out.
"I think they'll be happy that all the storylines have come together and they wrapped it up really well," she said.
And she's already getting sentimental about the end of Secret Life, telling us, "you get close with those people that you work with every day. Having to say goodbye to those people--you don't know when you're going to see them again."
"I think overall they knew they had a great run," she added. "They got to tighten it up and make it good at the end."
The next episode of The Secret Life of the American Teenager airs tonight on ABC Family at 8/7c.
