From recording a new album to launching a 16-city tour and promoting his first feature film with Kristen Wiig, Darren Criss is going to have a very busy summer. Darren Criss is wasting no time this summer. While most of his Glee classmate cast mates are taking a break, Darren has so many irons in the fire that he may feel like he attended summer school.
So, what's up? Well, he's jumping into his first headlining tour, visiting 16 cities in North America. The Listen Up tour kicks off May 29 in Darren's hometown of San Francisco and runs through June 30, ending in Silver Spring, Md. And if you don't have tickets by now, chances are you won't get one. They completely sold out within minutes on April 27. (But, hey, isn't that what Craigslist and Stubhub are for?)
On tour, Darren will be "road-testing" new material from his forthcoming album. A total overachiever, he's working on an album slated to drop sometime later this year. As to the vibe and feel of his new album, well Darren wants fans' input. He's hoping to gauge the audience's reaction to his new tunes while on his Listen Up tour. Recently, he told MTV News, "It's really trying to make something as appealing for everybody, that is fun and exciting and young and immediate."
On the acting front, Darren is taking a big bold step forward, co-starring in Kristen Wiig's new summer comedy, Girl Most Likely. In the film (due out July 19), Darren plays a fledgling pop star who rents Kristen's childhood bedroom. Trouble ensues when Kristen returns home to live with her mother after failing as an adult and finds Darren sleeping in her room. And yes, it seems from the trailer that the two hook up.
