John Mayer and Katy Perry popped into a guitar shop in New York last week and John surprised an unsuspecting fan with a guitar that she had been eyeing, but couldn't afford. John Mayer may have been known as a heartbreaker in the past, but it seems the former bad boy has been reformed and now has a heart of gold!

During a Summerfest performance, the singer gushed on stage about how incredible Katy Perry is, before dedicating his song "A Face to Call Home" to his other half.

Then, over the holiday weekend, John and Katy were at a music store in the SoHo neighborhood of New York City and John gave an unsuspecting fan an extremely generous gift.

As if meeting and taking photos with him wasn't cool enough, John asked the 16-year-old fan which instrument she liked best in the whole store. "I showed him, and he went over and checked the guitar's price," she told Us Weekly. "I said, 'Yup, but I can't afford it,' and he said, 'Oh, stop it!'"

She didn't really think much of the conversation until John and Katy left the store and an employee told her that John had actually bought the guitar for her.

"I was so shocked," she told the mag. "I started crying and screaming. I cannot describe all the emotions I felt at that moment. I just knew I was the luckiest and happiest person alive."

Maybe rekindling his relationship with Katy Perry has really softened the "Gravity" singer's heart...but whatever it is, we love seeing this new side of John!
