How Will 'Glee' Season 5 Handle Cory Monteith's Death?
'Glee' fans are devastated by Cory Monteith's tragic death. How will the series continue without Cory, and how will season 5 of 'Glee' handle his character Finn Hudson's storyline with Lea Michele's character Rachel Berry? While we continue to come to terms with Cory Monteith's death, some fans are wondering how Glee will explain his absence.
What's the future of Glee without Cory?
After all, he was the "glue" of the show--and his character, Finn Hudson, was such an integral part of the show's history and storylines.
How will the Glee cast carry on without him--and how will Finn and Rachel's on-screen romance end?
The cast and crew are supposed to begin production in the next couple of weeks, but it's unclear whether they will need to push that back given this tragedy.
Scripts will need to be rewritten and it's uncertain how the storyline will change now that Cory has passed away.
A source told E! Online's Kristin Dos Santos that it's "Too soon to tell" how things will be reworked.
"Everyone is in shock," another source told her, adding, "To say that Cory was much loved on the Glee set doesn't even begin to do him justice."
The first two episodes of Glee's new season were written before summer hiatus and reportedly feature Cory's character heavily.
Hollywood entertainment and pop culture expert, Scott Huver, tells FOX411's Pop Tarts: "He leaves a major hole in the heart of the show that will be challenging for the writers and producers to address. While the Glee staff and especially series creator Ryan Murphy have never shied away from handling controversial, tragic or dark subject matter, translating Monteith's loss into a 'death of Finn' storyline may simply prove to sad and all-consuming for the show, but glossing over his absence seems unrealistic."
He continued, "Whatever they decide, the writers will have to proceed very delicately lest dealing with the outcome overwhelm the show's generally light, fun-loving tone."
