Despite all of her success, Shailene had enjoyed a relatively low-key existence...until now.
As the star of the upcoming film, Divergent, which is part of a franchise that has drawn more than a few Hunger Games comparisons, Shailene confessed that she was a little bit apprehensive about participating in the high-profile project.
"Doing a huge franchise movie that has the potential to be very successful was frightening to me," she told Vanity Fair at Comic-Con. "I never wanted that amount of attention, and the thought of losing my anonymity was not something that I was looking forward to."
Fortunately for Shailene, she was able to get advice about handling Hunger Games-type attention from Jennifer Lawrence herself.
"I have still yet to meet Jennifer in the flesh, but I had a slight interaction with her where I asked her about Hunger Games and what it was like, and her life and how much it has changed," she spilled. "It was nice asking someone who has been through the process and is kind of seasoned in the young-adult franchise. She gave me really beautiful advice and said that I should definitely take it."
So, what did Jennifer tell her to do? It's quite simple, really...
"Don't be an idiot, do a sex tape, [or] do drugs. And go to Whole Foods when your movie opens," Shailene said, sharing Jennifer's words of wisdom.
We're not sure where the Whole Foods thing comes in, but we think the rest of it is definitely good advice!
