Melissa McCarthy is finally speaking out about her 'Elle' cover, which started a public debate when people felt that the mag went to great lengths to cover up the full-figured actress. Melissa McCarthy is finally speaking out about her controversial cover for Elle magazine.

The photo, which shows the full-figured actress completely covered up with a trench coat made a lot of people mad, criticizing the mag for supposedly going to such great lengths to conceal her curves, when instead they felt they should be celebrated.

Last week, Elle issued a statement defending the wardrobe choice, saying that Melissa herself actually picked out the coat.

Melissa was pretty quite about the incident all week, but she has finally spoken out, confirming the comment made by the mag, saying she was a little shocked by the uproar.

"What I found so bizarre is I picked the coat," she revealed to E! News. "I grabbed the coat. I covered up. I had a great black dress on but I thought, it comes out in November. I was so sick of summer. I live in Southern California. I was like, 'Give me a big coat to wear. Give the girl some cashmere!'"

She even joked that she's surprised she didn't steal it and she's still on a mission to get that coat in her hands, saying "Give me that coat, I earned it d*mnit!"

She certainly did...and we think she looks darn good in it, too!
