'Glee' Star Alex Newell Signs Deal With Atlantic Records
The 21-year-old Glee star has signed a deal with Atlantic Records, according to the Hollywood Reporter.
Aside from his undeniable talent, it looks like he has Glee executive music producer Adam Anders to thank, whose Deep Well Records will release Alex's debut album.
"While working with Alex on Glee, I immediately realized how broad and unique his talent was and knew that he would be a great addition to the Deep Well/Atlantic Records family," Adam said.
Alex, who plays transgendered Wade "Unique" Adams on the Fox show, was first discovered when he finished as the runner-up on the first season of Oxygen's The Glee Project.
Once the show was over, he was initially cast on Glee for just a two-episode guest star role, but the fanfare surrounding his appearance soon landed him a series regular gig on the Fox show's fifth season.
"I am thrilled to join this new family and take another step in my career," Alex told the mag. "Singing is my passion and to now have the opportunity to make my own music is a dream come true! I can't thank my new Atlantic and Deep Well family enough for welcoming me with open arms."
