The song was originally scheduled to be released at midnight on November 4, but has been released early, perhaps to pre-empt a potential leak.
"Dope" is definitely not one of Mother Monster's traditional upbeat dance anthems, but we love it just the same.
There is only a piano playing in the background as the eccentric pop star sings the slow ballad in a bit of a raspy tone.
Gaga posted a preview of the lyrics on her Instagram page and suffice it to say the song is pretty intense. "Toast one last puff and two last regrets, three spirits and 12 lonely steps," she wrote. "Each day I cry, I feel so low from living high."
This is definitely a more stripped-down version of Gaga than we're used to seeing and it sounds like she's been going through some pretty tough stuff.
