Simon Cowell may be a mentor on X Factor, but his real parenting lessons came from his pups. Check out what the soon-to-be-dad had to say about fatherhood! Simon Cowell may be a mentor on X Factor, but his real parenting lessons came from his pups.

"I've kind of got in [fatherhood] early by buying two puppies," the music mogul told reporters at the X Factor finalists party at the SLS Hotel Monday night. "So if you can look after two puppies it's a good start."

Simon called his puppies, Squiddly and Diddly, "adorable," adding that they're quite the little attention grabbers.

"I was saying to someone I get more of a reaction when I send out pictures of the dogs on Twitter than anything I've ever done in my life," Simon said with a laugh. "If you want followers, buy puppies and take pictures."

"I'm literally giving the dogs their own Twitter page," he continued. "I really am."

When we asked what the hardest thing has been about raising his puppies so far, Simon went right back into gush mode, saying, "I love them so much. I am a pathetic parent and I have pictures everywhere."

"I don't watch TV anymore I just watch them fight each other, and it's hilarious," the X Factor judge said. "And then they both sleep on my head."

It looks like Simon, who is expecting his first child with Lauren Silverman, is already showing his softer side.

We can't wait to see what he's like when their son is born!
