The new song is called "I See Fire" and the singer just announced that it will be featured in the upcoming film The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug. The flick hits theaters in December.

In typical Ed fashion, his voice sounds amazing in the song and the lyrics are spectacular too.

Not only did he just release the new song but he just revealed the tune's video too. It shows Ed working hard at the studio and flashes clips of the film. There's also a glimpse of him with Peter Jackson, the creator of both The Hobbit and the Lord of the Rings movies.

Ed recently talked about "I See Fire" on Twitter and said that on the song he had the chance to play instruments he never played before like the violin.
