Demi Lovato's upcoming tell-all book will reveal details about her drug and alcohol addictions that people will be "really shocked" about, she says in a new interview. Demi's memoir will touch on her "dark and deep struggles." Demi Lovato has been very open about her struggles since leaving rehab treatment in 2011, and in the new issue of Entertainment Weekly, she talks about embracing the responsibility of being a role model.
She explained that she initially shied away from the idea of being someone people should look up too, saying, "That was my excuse to do whatever the f*** I wanted and not give a s*** about what other people thought. Then I ended up going through some stuff."
Demi added, "I realized I'm never going to escape the fact that I'm in the public eye, so I might as well do the best I can.""
She also explained how she has to find the balance with "how honest" she should be in her upcoming tell-all memoir, noting, "Yes, I've been very honest, but if people really knew how dark and deep my struggles got--not just with my eating disorder but with drugs and alcohol--they'd be really shocked."
Demi added, "But I'll most likely end up saying everything. Maybe it'll help other people in the industry who are headed down the wrong path."
Of course, she was also asked about Miley Cyrus in the interview and she continues to defend her fellow Disney Channel alum, saying, "She's having fun and figuring out who she is, and this is the age when that happens...she's doing her own thing. Good for her."
We can't wait to read Demi's tell-all book--and applaud her for always keeping it real.
