During a concert in Buenos Aires on Saturday, Justin appeared to use his mic stand to mop the floor with an Argentina national flag that had been thrown onstage by a fan. Unfortunately for him, the whole incident was taped and put online and of course, people aren't too happy about it!
Even though it's clear what he's doing in the vid, a rep for Justin told TMZ that the Biebs would never desecrate a flag and that the whole thing is a giant misunderstanding. Apparently female fans were throwing bras and t-shirts on stage and Justin was trying to brush them off the stage so he wouldn't step on them.
The singer is also saying that it wasn't a flag thrown up onstage but rather a T-shirt with the Argentine flag printed on it. Justin supposedly didn't realize the item had the national symbol on it.
"Heard about what is going on with me down in Argentina and I'm shocked. I love Argentina and have had some of the best shows of my tour there," Justin wrote on Twitter.
"People throw stuff on my stage all show and I get it to the stage hands to get off so no one got hurt. That video I saw a bra and thought it was a shirt. I'm being told by my team it was a shirt but even if it was a flag I would never do anything to disrespect Argentina or the people of Argentina or the fans. I'm so sorry for anyone who took my actions the wrong way and I hope you can forgive this mistake."
Diplomatic officials in Buenos Aires and in Washington have reportedly said that people are really upset by Justin's disrespect for Argentina. A lawyer in the country even filed legal papers denouncing Bieber for "insulting the flag."
Don't worry Beliebers, Justin probably won't go to jail over this one. There's no indication authorities will charge him even though desecrating the flag IS a crime in Argentina that is punishable by 1 to 4 years in prison. Not so swaggy.
This isn't the only drama Justin was faced with in the South American country. Some of his fans went crazy and destroyed the hotel he was staying at! Read more about it here.
