And it didn't have an expensive price tag, either.
"My brother found my jacket," Ryan said in a video for Hugo Boss. "I played rugby for years and I had a rugby jacket when I was 14. I lost it and somehow he found it in a storage bin 15 years later and he gave it to me around my 30th birthday right at Christmastime, so that was amazing. That was probably one of the best gifts."
The Turbo star said he also leans towards the "sentimental" when it comes to gift giving.
When his brother's dog died of old age, for example, Ryan got a "beautiful" black and white photo of the late pup framed for him and gave it to his bro as a gift.
"I really think it's better to touch somebody with something," the 37-year-old actor said of gift giving. "[Christmas] is less about getting the most extravagant gift and more about giving something that's personal and to the heart."
