"Do you know this guy?Would you let him into your country? Hmmm-that is the question... An airline named after my home- the Mississippi River Delta, taking me to China... Very cool," Ian posted on Instagram Thursday.
The Vampire Diaries star didn't specifically say why he's heading to China this time, but he headed to the Asian country earlier this year (right after his break-up from Nina Dobrev) for an environmentalist trip of sorts.
"Later US soil-the far east I must go!I love love-see you soon China! The 21st century is truly amazing...The ability to move around like this and see you all.HOWEVER,I'm going to plant so many f'n trees in my life to make up for this absurd amount of carbon I'm using... BLEH!;)," he posted on Instagram, along with a shot of his passport.
Before heading to China, it looked like Ian spent Christmas with his family, considering he hails from Covington, Louisiana.
"Merry Christmas from the Louisiana bayou.Thank you for an amazing year-my hat is off to you. You're and amazing force of great change in the world you Social Mediaverse. My love and gratitude to you all!," he posted on Instagram, along with a selfie.
