Lorde: Being Called "Teen Hottie" Makes Me Want to Throw Up

Don't call her hottie! In a new interview, the New Zealand singer describes why she hates that phrase and how she defines herself 2013 Grammy Nominations Concert Live - Press RoomLorde is certainly not one to hold her tongue and in a new interview with the New York Times, the Royals singer says she despises a certain phrase that often used to describe her pop star peers.

"The phrase 'teen hottie' literally makes me want to throw up," she says. "I'm a pop princess at heart."

The 17-year-old New Zealand born musician also says she's declined big bucks for opportunities that aren't a good fit for her unique music and persona.

"I've turned down easily tens of millions of dollars doing what I do and saying no to things that I think are corny," Lorde explains.

Taylor Swift's new friend hopes to inspire her fans to achieve their own dreams. "I would like them to think that the sky's the limit, that there's really not anything you can't do. After all, I'm from New Zealand. This shouldn't happen to people like me," Lorde says.
