Is Clay Aiken really considering running for Congress? Find out what the American Idol alum has supposedly been up to. Is Clay Aiken gearing up for a political career?

According to the Washington Blade, the American Idol alum is "actively considering" a bid to represent North Carolina's 2nd congressional district in the U.S. House.

The 35-year-old singer has reportedly taken initial steps for his run, even consulting with political operatives in Washington, D.C. about a bid for the seat.

The site also reported that Clay has been working with Raleigh, N.C.-based political strategist Betsi Conti to help him explore the idea further of running for congress.

Clay and the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee, who he supposedly talked to about a potential bid, have not commented on the story.

After coming out as gay in 2008, the "Bring Back My Love" crooner has spoken out about political issues, mainly addressing gay rights.

In May 2012, Clay appeared on CBS' Face the Nation to discuss his native North Carolina's Amendment One, which defined marriage as a union between a man and a woman.

"The polls in North Carolina show that over 60 percent of North Carolinians actually support some recognition for same-sex couples, be it civil unions or domestic partnerships," Aiken said. "As North Carolinians see what it's done, and what it will do, I think they will support the fact that President Obama did speak out on principle... I think we'd like to see politicians speak out on principle a little bit more."

What do you think about Clay possibly running for office?

Do you think he would make a good politician?
