Sorry fans, Lorde doesn't want you to give her following a cutesie nickname. Find out why Lorde won't be following the trend of names (Directioners, Swifties, Beliebers, etc.).
Plenty of celebs have their nicknamed fandom: Beliebers, Directioners, Swifties, Smilers, Little Monsters, Lovatics, Selenators--but one celeb isn't down with these cute names at all.
Lorde, who has previously shown she marches to the beat of her own drum (and which we love her for), isn't fond of the fan names.
So, "Lordies" and "Lordemaniacs" is just never going to happen.
That doesn't mean that the singer isn't thankful for the fan support--she just doesn't think the cutesy naming trend is necessary.
Lorde told Look magazine: "I find it grating to lump everyone into a really awkward, pun-centric name. People joke about it on Twitter, 'You should call us The Disciples.' Never!"
She added, "I have discouraged it. I've tweeted multiple times, 'No fan name, I do not condone this.'"
What do you think of Lorde's stance on this subject? When did all the pun-tacular names become the big thing?
