After she went through a ton of different tests, a specialist finally determined that she had a rare form of muscular dystrophy, which would continue to weaken her muscles as she got older. As if that wasn't tough enough to swallow, it was suggested that Leah get her little one fitted for a wheelchair to give her better mobility, which was obviously devastating for Leah.
Some fans thought Ali's father (Leah's ex-husband) Corey Simms was in denial when he refused to accept the grim outlook for the future. On a recent episode, he even said that he would walk little Ali down the aisle one day and tell everyone that they were wrong.
Well, it looks like Corey might have been on to something...
In a new interview with In Touch, Leah revealed that little Ali is defying the odds. "Ali is running... She has so much determination," she told them.
She also revealed that the 4-year-old competed alongside her twin sister in a cheerleading competition last weekend and judging by the photo Leah posted on her Twitter page with the girls standing next to a trophy that is almost as big as they are, it looks like things went about as well as they could have.
Of course, Leah admits that they never know what the future holds, but they remain hopeful.
