Why was Cory Monteith left off the list of the Oscars 2014 In Memoriam segment?

While the ceremony's In Memoriam segment paid tribute to the sad losses in the film industry in the past 12 months, Cory was noticeably missing. Is it because he wasn't as much of a movie star as he was a TV star?

Philip Seymour Hoffman, James Gandolfini, Paul Walker, Harold Ramis, Peter O'Toole, Shirley Temple Black and Roger Ebert were among those included on the tribute list, but Cory's fans are upset that he wasn't part of the segment.

Following Bette Midler's performance of "Wind Beneath My Wings," the Academy Awards telecast did point viewers to the website for the complete In Memoriam gallery, which includes Cory.
