More power to her. With a sold-out tour of her own, it's no wonder Lorde doesn't need Katy Perry's help.
The 17-year-old has turned down the "Roar" singer's offer to be the opening act for her Prismatic World Tour in 2014. Can't say we're surprised since Lorde, who has won fans worldwide over with her debut album, Pure Heroine, isn't one to follow in anyone's stilettos (we bet she doesn't even own a pair).
Lorde has previously said she wants to make a name for herself, by herself. "In the really early stages of an artist's career, it's important for them to establish themselves for themselves," she recently said to a radio station in Australia. "I'm just basically really stubborn and I want to be really independent."
Maybe she's taking a cue from one of her BFF's, Taylor Swift. "I want to be headlining my own shows instead of supporting someone else," she revealed. Though Lorde won't be joining Katy--Icona Pop, Capital Cities, Kacey Musgraves and Tegan and Sara will take their turns as her opening act.
