Lady Gaga Finally Addresses Controversial SXSW Performance

All was quiet on the Lady Gaga front following her controversial SXSW performance where she had a woman vomit on her. The "vomit artist" (yeah, that's a real job title, apparently) spoke out earlier this week in defense of the accusations that she was promoting bulimia.

"My performance is not a statement about eating disorders in any way. I think the whole bulimia thing-It's important for people to know that I'm not trying to promote it," she told Elle magazine. Unfortunately, she then went on to say it, "feels quite good in a way, because it's like you're cleaning your body out. It's kind of a cleanse," which kind of contradicts the whole "not promoting" thing.

Of course, everyone wanted to know what Gaga had to say about the whole thing, especially because she claims to have suffered from anorexia and bulimia herself. Mother Monster stayed mum about the situation...until an interview today--on the TODAY show, actually.

After plugging her new music video for G.U.Y. with a blink-and-you-might-miss-it clip, Gaga was asked about the SXSW situation ad the controversy surrounding it. Not surprisingly, she stood by the pukey performance and basically tried to defend it as "artistic expression."

On that note, we'd like to leave you with this parting thought, courtesy of Demi Lovato...
