Worst Prom Ever? High School Senior Kicked Out For Wearing Pants

Well, this seems totally unfair and sexist. A Cherryville High senior girl was kicked out of her own prom for wearing pants.

Shafer Rupard opted to wear red skinny jeans, a black button up and a hat for her senior prom, instead of a traditional glitzy gown. "It's just the way she's always been and she wanted to feel comfortable in her own skin," her mother explained to WBTV News.

But upon arriving to the dance, Shafer was quickly asked to leave. "The teacher tapped me on the shoulder and said she had a problem with what I was wearing," she says. "I thought it was because of the hat or the leather jacket and I was like, 'Well, I'll take those off' and she was like, 'No, it's the pants.'"

So her outfit isn't the norm for a high school prom and it is a bit casual for the occasion, but there's nothing offensive about it to us. And considering all of the guys wear pants to prom, we can't see how this is really an issue.

There was never a dress code for the prom specified, according to Shafer's mom. We think the school owes her an apology...and a refund for the price of her prom ticket, at the very least.
