If J.Lo ever had a biopic, she said the 21-year-old starlet would be a perfect fit, telling Newsday, "I would want Selena Gomez to play me in a movie. She is a cutie."
The Parker star made waves when she played late Latin superstar Selena in the 1997 Biopic Selena, going on to star in a variety of dramatic and comedic films and releasing 10 studio albums. Selena Gomez, who was named after Selena, has been compared to J.Lo before, with Jason Evigan, producer of her album Stars Dance telling MTV last year, "I kind of feel she's going to be like a new JLo kind of thing."
According to Newsday, Latin pop song "Save the Day," which is on Selena's album, was meant for J.Lo, for example. There's no word yet on if a J.Lo biopic is in the works or if its even been thought about just yet, but Selena has made it clear that she wants to expand her acting repertoire.
She recently told Teen Vogue she wants to be a more "accomplished" actress, saying, "Being part of the Disney Channel was such a blessing, and I'm super happy with what my show accomplished, but acting is something I would like to take on more seriously. I don't necessarily feel accomplished. I want to create a whole different persona when it comes to acting."
Selena also reportedly met with Jennifer Anison recently to talk about just that, according to Hollywoodlife.com, which reported that Aniston was interested in helping Selena make a better transition into the film industry.
