From the big screen to the big stage, Vanessa Hudgens is making moves.

The High School Musical star is now taking her turn at a Broadway musical titled "Gigi." Directed by Eric Schaeffer, Vanessa will take the stage in the Eisenhower Theater in Washington, D.C. from January 16 - February 12, 2015. Following up after D.C., Gigi will open on Broadway in 2015 in New York.

What's Gigi? It's based on the 1944 novel by French writer Colette and was first adapted for Broadway in 1951. It is set in Paris, a world where glam, passion and fashion always comes out on top. Vanessa's role as Gigi will follow a young woman coming of age and trying to find true love.

"From the moment we met Vanessa, we knew we found our Gigi," director Eric Schaeffer said. "She is smart, gorgeous, a wonderful singer and is so luminous on stage. You cannot take your eyes off of her."

While we miss Gabriella Montez from East High, it sounds like Vanessa is ready for this. "I started performing in musicals from a young age, and it has always been my dream to be on Broadway," the 25-year-old singer and actress said. "I cannot wait to get back on stage, singing and dancing these songs and living Gigi's glamorous world."

Tickets for Gigi will go on sale on October 1 to the general public.
