During a recent segment on The Daily Show with Jon Stewart, it appears a joke was made about Zayn Malik being a terrorist. Let's just say that One Direction fans didn't find it funny at all and took to Twitter to air their unhappiness, using the hashtag #TheDailyShowGoneTooFar.

What happened? Daily Show correspondent Jessica Williams threw in a mention of One Direction during a report on terrorist organizations, joking about a new group, saying, "Just as you were talking, a new terrorist group formed with one member each from ISIS, Al Nusra, Al Qaeda, One Direction and the Zetas drug cartel."

Even though Zayn isn't mentioned by name and it appears the joke was made to lump a boybander into the supergroup, the joke fell flat with Directioners. You do not want to make the One Direction fandom angry.

Many fans were disappointed and disgusted with the show, finding the joke offensive, while others demanded an apology or wanted the show shut down. Others believed it was just an innocent joke and the writers had no intention of calling Zayn a terrorist. We're wondering if Jon Stewart will address this on a future show.

UPDATE: The Daily Show folks have addressed the joke, tweeting: "Dear 1D fans: We didn't know the band members' names, religions, hobbies, etc. Just knew they were popular. But not THIS popular. #whoa"
