The Britney Spears and Madonna kiss is one pop culture moment that none of us will soon forget.

It was 2003 and Britney was at the top of her game. The mere fact that she was on stage at the VMAs performing with two other pop divas (Madonna and Christina Aguilera) was pretty intense. Then, when Britney and Madonna locked lips, the whole world stopped - and that was before any of us had DVRs, so there was no 'did I just see what I think I saw?' rewind option.

In a new interview with Billboard, Britney's manager Larry Rudolph opened up about the kiss and as it turns out, it wasn't as spontaneous for Britney and Madonna as it seemed to all of us.

"Madonna had been very, very, very rigid about the rehearsals," he explained. "She was telling Britney and I every day, 'Be here tomorrow at 10 o'clock.' She would never address me by name, she would just say, 'You, make sure Britney's here tomorrow at 10 o'clock.' And I would say, 'okay.' You don't want to upset her."

"Once the kiss happened, the world exploded," he recalled. After the Britney lip lock, Madge planted a kiss on Larry's lips, too. "You see, Larry? It was all worth it," she told him.
